Everybody these days talks about web 2.0 and how they want there website to be web 2.0. I am sick of hearing web 2.0. Web 2.0 is a term describing a trend in the use of World Wide Web technology and web design that aims to enhance creativity, information sharing, and, most notably, collaboration among users. These concepts have led to the development and evolution of web-based communities and hosted services, such as social-networking sites, wikis, blogs, and folksonomies. The term became notable after the first O'Reilly Media Web 2.0 conference in 2004. The other day I heard somebody tell me that there site was being built in web 3.0. First of all your site cannot be built in web 2.0 or 3.0, and second of all there is no web 3.0. Web 3.0 is a theory of interactive applications and data sharing. But again it is still in theory. I like the term semantic web better anyways. This way I dont have to hear the phrase "I want my site to web 2.0 compliant". Anyways web 3.0 is a mear figment of our imaginations.... till next time. |
