What Is the Semantic Web?

Well, what is the semantic web.  The Semantic Web is an evolving extension of the World Wide Web in which information can be understood by computers as well as humans.  The current web is setup in a way that humans search for nearest pizza parlor, book a hotel room, or find the lowest price for a video game.  The current web is designed to be read by humans but not machines.  The semantic web will make it possible for both humans and machine to carry out these tasks.

The semantic is possible because of some ew and emerging technologies including xml, rdf, turtle, ans sparql.  The web will work as an interconnective database of websites, information, and formulas. The web will become smart or al least smarter. 

There is much skepticism about the semantic web.  The comcept has been around for a while, but it has yet to mature.  Many associate the term web 3.0 with the semantic web.  Basically, as the internet evolves and new technologies are developed the semantic web will take form in one way or another.
